New webhost coming soon

I just wanted to give everyone a heads-up that I will be purchasing a new webhost package (thanks to generous sponsor Pete R, Dir. of R+D) with the lovely people at Bluehost. Kevin and I have been using them for the Strange Brood podcast and it seems to be working great. There will be no change as far as the site address, downloading shows, etc. The only thing that may go haywire is the feed since I will be moving all of our shows to the reliable host. If it screws up, I apologize, but we need to host these shows ourselves and they ain't doing anyone any good where they are now. I am planning on making the switch early next week.

Thanks to Harold Reed at the Darn PC Podcast for generously hosting our shows the last couple months.

Thanks to our listeners for your patience, and remember, your donations do add up, so consider supporting us at any level.

New shows coming soon

The hiatus is nearly over. After a great vacation and a needed break in the action, The Unemployment Line is scheduled to resume production this week with our regular schedule.

A few updates:

Greg: still looking for love in all the wrong places.
Frank: still vaccuming the Tropicana Pool.
Regis: still in his boxers in this 100 degree Chicago weather.

Can't wait to talk to you all again...we have much to discuss!

iTunes screenshot

iTunes now has updated information for our show, like artist info and the awesome artwork I always forget to add to the mp3s I post. If you don't use iTunes, here's a blurry shot that may or may not be what it really looks like in the land of Apple:

Server news, vacation notes

This post is going up late, my excuse is that I got a cavity filled today and have been in a crabby mood.

I've started moving older shows off the 'fast' server and onto our old 'buffer limited' server, so people looking for old shows will have to suffer. This will probably screw up the feed along with iTunes and iPodder, but what can a man do. I really hope it doesn't.

I will be out of town with my friend and cohort Kevin for the next week or so, so there will be no show this Friday. Look for a mid-week show (Wed) and possibly a later week show as well. For information about our road trip, including a tentative itinerary, visit The Strange Brood website.

As always, please report problems to me if you find them. Web poll coming soon.

Thanks,
-Regis

iTunes listing...finally!

Well, I finally found The Unemployment Line on iTunes, although I was disappointed when I searched for Melvis and got no results. There's an idea...the Melvis cast! We could include short interviews, plus the songs he sings each week at Karaoke! But who would subscribe?

Here's the direct link to our page in iTunes. Click it. Love it.

Or you can open iTunes and search for "unemployment" or look under the comedy heading. Oh wait...does this mean we need to start being funny now?

Unemployment Line Podcast 029 Take 2

My apologies about the interrupted show everyone. I think we maxed out on our webspace and therefore were unable to load the new show. I deleted some old stuff and uploaded with no problem. Hopefully this works for everyone.

In somewhat related news, I ran the karaoke show tonight for Frankie so he could chill out and spend time with his family. Now at 2:30 AM I can finally get the podcast posted correctly.

Thanks as always for your patience!

No podcast this Monday

Sorry all for not posting this sooner, but obviously we didn't have time to record a show on Monday (with the Independence Day and all), and there's been stuff preventing us from recording other days this week. We will hopefully get a show out to y'all on Friday, but right now I can't promise anything. We do thank you for your loyal listenership and hope to talk to you soon.

Letter of the week

From Unemployee Pete

>Well, we recorded a show and my computer decided to crash the recording program and lose the file I was about to save.
...R&D recommends getting a Mac....

>Greg and I found the file in the temp directory and tried to restore it, but the audio was segmented making it extremely difficult to understand.
...and that is different from other shows how?...

>So we lost the show. Here's what you missed: Regis ranting about the half-naked fat man at the racetrack
...hmmm, I take it that he didn't finish in the money, eh?...

>Frankie ranting about the Scientologists
...from the podcasts, it didn't sound like Science was Frankie V's favorite subject...

>Greg ranting about organized religion
...given that most organized religions are against gay marriages, this is understandable...

...a moment of silence for the lost show...
- sigh -
...we hardly knew ye...

Respectfully submitted,
Pete

Thanks for the humor!

New Podcast Coming Soon!

I'd like to put a call out for all the Beatles fans out there. Our great friend David has been blogging about Beatles bootlegs (Beatlegs) the past week or so and he is starting a podcast as well! This show is a must listen for any music fans. If you're into the Beatles, bootlegs, or know someone who is, this show will fulfill all your dreams!

Make sure you go check out the weblog at beatlesbeatlegs.blogspot.com and see the totally cool things David is putting together over there. He's already posted a few files for people to check out and the podcast will be produced soon.

I can't wait to subscribe to this one for sure!
